Thou Shalt Not Sext

My message this week is on Jesus and the adulterous woman in John 8. Jesus is amazing how he corrects the critics and at the same time mends the unmendable sin of the woman.

I am listing the Scriptures in this message so you can study them on your own ok?

Here goes.

Genesis 16 Abraham and Hagar-consequence of sexual sin

Genesis 19 Sodom and Gomorrah-consequences of sexual sin

Exodus 20 The Ten Commandments:Thou shalt not commit adultery

Deuteronomy 22.20 Stoning an adulterous daughter on the steps of her father’s house

Matthew 5.27 If you look at a woman to lust after her, you have committed adultery.

Romans 6.23 The wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is life everlasting in Jesus.

John 5.32 Jesus knows the heart

Numbers 32.23 Be sure your sin will find you out.

Here are the last points of my message from John 8.

Jesus knows

Jesus does not judge but he is morally discerning

Jesus atones

Jesus treats with dignity

Thanks you guys, if you survive these Scriptures and the message which you can hear on ncffchurch.com let me know your reflections. Love you all. Glen

PSLR (Porn, Sex, Love, Relationship Addiction Recovery)

We had our first group for PSLR this week. If you missed it, dudes, you can still join. Text me at 5034405532, email at dr.glenmaiden@gmail.com, or facebook me. I will give you the confidential details.

There is no other group like this on the north coast of Oregon. You are welcome.

I thought I would reflect on the healing of addictions for a few minutes. Our addictions connect to our pain. If the pain heals, insatiable dogs of addiction rest their fury. Simple…not easy.

Our task is to invite Jesus to heal the pain.

We begin by telling our stories. I called my mom and my brothers tonight to ask them to help me reflect on our family. Pain begins at this place.

Jesus had quite a family. His mom was the center of controversy, that whole virgin birth thing, his brothers thought he was insane, his step dad…disappeared from history. Jesus changed the world and altered history and he had a family story…not unlike yours.

Have you thought about your history? The Gospel is a story of a Father who loves His children…dysfunctional children. The power of the Gospel is known when you blend your story with the Gospel. Jesus can do anything power can do…he can heal the deepest hurts. He can touch your story.

If you wish to walk through yours, I would be honored to help you. Do you struggle with stuff? People? Relationships? Do you see patterns of hurt? People all over the country are writing their stories and finding healing and help. The Gospel can do anything that power can do in you.

Community is Everything!

Hey Facebook community, this month 10% of proceeds from the book, The Treasure: Healing the Hurt of the Post Modern Heart, will go to support the Women’s Resource Center/Pioneer House in Astoria, Oregon. In fact, if you have a passion for a women’s shelter, let me know and we will support them as well. The Treasure is the true story of an inner city community of addicts and victims of abuse who found grace and healing in Christian community. The Treasure will teach you how to write your own story of healing and bless broken people world wide. Go to glenmaiden.com and follow the links. Here is a description of the Pioneer House: Women’s Resource Center and Pioneer House offer three services to the community; 1-programs for victims of abuse, court advocacy, financial assistance; 2-Homeless Shelter for women; 3-A thrift store and job training. Community is everything!

Medical Mission To Kenya

Thank you Facebook community for touching the world with grace and love. We have been working together to send a medical missionary, Brooke Roberts RN, to Kenya to help the women and children of this impoverished country.

More than an event, we are part of a revolution to help people all over the globe because WE ARE A POWERFUL COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE WHO CARE.

This is what fires me up! We can make a difference. We are making a difference.

Brooke has raised all but 1420 dollars of her expenses. Thank you friends for caring. For those of you who live on the coast, she is having an art show this Saturday at the Gearhart Gallery from 5-7PM. Brooke is an amazing artist. You can view her Africa Collection on my blog as well. She is selling these beautiful water colors to help fund her trip. If you are interested in touching Africa you may go online at openarmsinternational.com make a donation and mention Brooke in the comment section. If you are an art lover on the coast, hope you can make it Saturday April 3rd 5-7pm.

Thank you for being counted among people who care. Once again this is the power of our community. If each of my fb friends gives a buck twenty five, we send a missionary. Then, when you feel the call to go and serve we can all help you. This is the best.

Many thanks,

Glen

Medical Mission to Kenya

Here is a report from Brooke Roberts our medical missionary to Kenya. She met with her Kenya team this week.

“So going to my first kenya team meeting was great. All day I have been daydreaming about it. My teamates are awesome they seem to be super people. We will be setting up medical clinics in the slums and doing feeding programs for street kids. Plus helping out at Open Arms International Orphanage. I can’t wait!”-Brooke Roberts, RN

Here is a report on Brooke’s progress. The first deadline was met with over 2100 dollars. Brooke now needs 1700 dollars by April 10 to make it to Kenya.

First of all. I feel such gratitude for each of you who gave a gift to reach broken people in Kenya. Thank you.

I am also overwhelmed by the power of community to touch people. Many who give a little can do so much.

Friends, we are in a revolution of amazing possibilities. Think what a community like ours can do to change the world.

Here’s what that means. If our fb community of 1000 people gives a gift of 1.70 cents each we can send Brooke on a medical mission. Lives change. Then what about the next missionary we send? For the cost of a cup of cheap coffee we touch the world.

Friend, will you think about sending a gift to openarmsinternational.com? A powerful community is rising up to create grassroots change around the world. You are part of it. How cool is that?

If you are in, please mention Brooke Roberts in the comment box. Changing the world with you. Glen

Colossians 1:13
For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son

Luke 10.8-10

8 “If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you. 9 Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’

1 Corinthians 4:20
For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.

Romans 14:17
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Luke 12:31
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.

1 Corinthians 6:9
Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.

Revelation 11:15
Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven:“The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.”

Revelation 21.3 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.[a] 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

Luke 18:17
I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

John 3:3
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.

Kenya, Haiti, Chile, Argentina…Meltdown

Kenya, Haiti, Chile, Argentina…I prayed today for the victims of another earthquake. I am not sure how to pray anymore. So much suffering. Then I prayed as Jesus prays…”Father, your will not mine.”

We cannot fix every problem, but we can do what the Father wishes us to do.

May I encourage you to pray about which mission organization to support and pray for?

If we all do a small part, the world is touched. True?

Let me encourage you about the power of community. Brooke Roberts, RN has raised all but 85 dollars of step one to her mission trip to Kenya. Tomorrow is the first deadline and we are only 85 dollars away.

Lori and I will give 50 dollars to send Brooke. Will you pray about a gift? You may give a tax deductable donation at openarmsinternational.com. Please mention Brooke Roberts in the comment.

The world is in a Tsunami of trouble. He can make a difference through us. Take care friends.

We Are Soooo Close

For Lent I am supporting a professional nurse, Brooke Roberts RN, to go on a medical mission to Kenya to help the women and children of this impoverished nation.

Brooke’s first financial goal is 2100 dollars by February 28. Great news…she has over 1950 dollars so far. 150 dollars more and we take the next step toward saving women and children…for Lent.

Lent has Christian history from the third century AD. The focus is a deeper spiritual life through fasting, prayer, and engaging God’s word. It normally is a forty day period preceding Easter. 40 is a special number in Scripture connecting to a complete period of time.

I think Lent is a great idea, my concern is that like many rituals it can become a self serving event.

This is why fasting, prayer, and the word leading to touching the world with grace and love becomes so important to me. Deeper spirituality must expand beyond me at the center of my own universe and impact the world. Think about it…impact the world.

So, my prayer is that you will, with me, allow the depth of Lent to touch children a world away in Kenya. Ask Jesus what he would have you do…and will you give a gift to send a medical missionary to Kenya? Jesus said when you serve the least…you serve Him.

Here is what it looks like. I have about 1000 facebook friends. If each friend gives 15 cents…Brooke takes the next step toward Kenya. This is not about money, it is the power of a caring community.

There is power in what we do. There is change. Hope emerges.

I trust that you will join me to pray, to go online at http://www.openarmsinternational.com/ and give a gift…whatever comes from your heart. Put in the comment section, “for Brooke Roberts”.

Lent…for children.

He can…through us.

Lent…Saving Children

Hi fb community,

A friend challenged me to help her rethink Lent. Normally, we give up something for this holy season leading up to Easter. She encouraged me to think about “taking something on” for Lent. How about saving lives this holy season? Brooke Roberts Rn is preparing for a medical mission to Kenya. Her passion is to help the poor of Africa.

Brooke needs to raise 2100 dollars by February 28th. And then another 2500 by April. Now, here is the good news…she has already raised 1365 dollars.

So this week our prayer is that 635 dollars will come in to send Brooke to Africa. Here is the simplicity. If each of my fb community gives a tax deductable gift of 3 dollars…children are touched in Africa.

Here is how you can support this medical mission to save children:

Pray

Go online to http://www.openarmsinternational.com/ follow the links to give a tax deductable donation and mention Brooke Roberts in the comment section before February 28.

Purchase one of her original watercolors of African children she photographed on a previous mission. Her portraits have sold for 800 dollars each. Check out the blog at glenmaiden.com to see her work from the Africa Collection.

Finally, let’s do something different for the Easter Season, you know rather than giving up stuff, and the usual consumer mentality…let’s save children for Lent.

Facebook Revolution

Dear facebook friends,

I believe our Facebook community represents a revolution of love and connection around the world. In a few seconds you and I will link up with lifelong friends and family and we will encourage and pray for each other. Our community symbolizes the power to change the world through communication.

I want to introduce to you a friend of mine who has a dream to touch the poor of Africa by using her passion for healthcare. Brooke Roberts RN is working her way toward a short term mission with Open Arms International to Eldoret, Kenya to serve the poorest of the poor on this tiny globe. The mission will take place July 10-24, 2010.

Remote Kenya is no vacation…this is a medical mission to save women and children. Here are 3 ways you can help touch lives in Africa.

1-Pray for Brooke

2-Purchase one of Brooke’s original watercolors from the “Africa Collection”. These beautiful works of art are based on photos of African women and children which Brooke photographed on a previous mission. Check out my blog at glenmaiden.com to see her work. You can post a comment on the blog if you wish to purchase one of Brooke’s pieces from the collection.

3-Donate online at www.openarmsinternational.com to make a tax deductable gift. Please indicate in the memo that your gift will go for Brooke Roberts.

If each of my Facebook friends gives a gift of 5 dollars, we can send Brooke to touch the poor of Africa with grace and love. 5 small bucks from a large caring community can do so much.

You may wish to do more…that is cool too. Soon I will post the results of how far Brooke has progressed. Thanks friends…let the revolution begin! And as always…let me know how I can pray for you.
